Superior Court of California - Calaveras: New San Andreas Courthouse

This project creates a new four-courtroom San Andreas Courthouse for the Superior Court of Calaveras County, to replace the court's space in the Legal Building and adjacent modular unit. The new courthouse will include space for court administration, a court clerk, court security operations, a holding area, and building support space.

This project has been recognized by the American Institute of Architects' Academy of Architecture for Justice by receiving an award of merit in the 2010 Justice Facilities Review.

Superior Court of California, County of San Joaquin - New Stockton Courthouse

For this project SWG is providing cost estimating and quality assurance/control services. The new Stockton Courthouse will have (30) thirty courtrooms and approximately 265,000 GSF of area. It will include Criminal, Civil and Family courts and associated support and administrative functions. The building will be (6) six to (11) eleven stories with (1) one basement level.

Merced County Courthouse

Cost estimiating services for the construction of teh approximately 60,000 square foot Old Merced court facility. This project consisted of producing cost estimates for the restoration of the fire damaged Department 3 Courtroom and Chamber. Costs were also compiled for the new interior finishes, restoration of existing courtroom casework, replacement of the existing fixed public and jury seating, suspended ceiling systems and the repair of the mechanical supply and return air system throughout.

Auburn Justice Center

Sierra West Group provided cost estimating services to assist with the new construction of the Auburn Justice Facility. This project consisted of estimating services for the 97,900 square foot essential service facility which houses all Sheriffs operations including investigation, patrol, dispatch, coroner, civil and field operations. Also included in this project were the District Attorney and Probation Department offices as well as a shooting range, armory, training room, fitness center, evidence and narcotics storage and break room with access to a secure patio. Costs to assist in the use of sustainable design options such as natural day lighting; sunscreens; solar orientation; energy efficient building systems and the use of native stone in the landscape were also provided.

Superior Court of California - Solano

Cost estimating to assist with the renovation of the existing courthouse, including the build-out of two courtrooms, holding cells, chambers and other court support function. The scope aslo included T.I. of court clerk space in an older section of the facility.

Highlights

The courtrooms and hold were designed into an area that was previously shelled out for this use. However, due to changes in disabled accessibility under the California Building Code, as well as modesty requirements for holding cells under the Corrections Standards Authority, the initial design did not work. The new design utilized universal design practices in order to provide an efficient layout that was congruent with the existing facility.

Lincoln City Hall

SWG provided cost consulting services to assist with the new 60,000 square foot four-story moment frame structure with brick and terra cotta exterior. Costs for the first three floors to house space for the city departments including the city manager's office, administrative services, finance and public works community development were also provided.

Sacramento City Hall

Seismic Retrofit and Restoration of Historic City Hall. New 5-stories 200,000 GSF City Hall Administration Building. Tenant improvements and FF&E (Furniture, Furnishings and Equipment). New 67,000 GSF Underground Parking Garage. New Technology Equipment and AV system with art in public areas.

Highlights

This project received the International Partnering Institute-Legacy Project of the year on May 20th 2010.

State Office Buildings 8 and 9

Renovation of these (2) two (18) eighteen floor towers, include 540,000 square feet of office space for the State of California Department of Social Services (DSS), will include implementation of new mechanical, electrical and telecommuncations systems, structural upgrades addressing seismic considerations, overall build upgrades meeting current code requirements, and minor repairs to the exterior shell. The seismic retrofit upgrades include epoxy dowel installation and hydraulic dampening system incorporated into the newly installed steel brace frames. Remaining renovations included the HVAC, electrial, plumbing, and fire/life systems.

El Dorado County Courthouse

Cost estimating services to assist with the seismic upgrades to the 18,000 square feet, (3) three story courthouse. Costs to add steel bracing to the second and third story perimeter walls, replacement of the concrete roof slab with metal decking and the installation of out-of-plane tension ties between the masonry walls and roof were provided.
